Beyond Ipanema, the new series by Producing Partners affiliate Planet Pop, will premiere on Brazilian television on Sunday, January, 13th, at 9:30 PM on Canal Brasil. Based on the award-winning documentary of the same name, the 13 episode series features names like David Byrne, M.I.A., Devendra Banhart, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and many others. The first episode explores the overall allure of Brazilian music outside of Brazil. In the following weeks, the program explores the role of DJs and remixers in promoting Brazilian music in the US and the current revival of Tropicalia by international artists. Created by Guto Barra and Béco Dranoff, Beyond Ipanema will also explore the power of Bossa Nova in Japan and the underground music scene in London. MORE
